Welcome to a bible believing independent baptist church. Join us this Sunday.
Visiting a church for the first time can be intimidating, but it can also be a very rewarding experience. From the moment you walk in our doors, you’ll experience a sincere welcome.
You will be surprised at how quickly you feel at home with us. God takes note when a church lovingly fellowships one with another.
"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened... and a book of remembrance was written before Him."
— Malachi 3:16
Sunday School: We have classes for all ages: adults, youth, primary, and toddlers.
Preaching: Expect the preaching to be Bible and Christ-centered. Our prayer is that you are encouraged, strengthened, and spiritually motivated to follow Christ.
Our church loves the hymns of the faith and music that glorifies the Lord. During services, we sing hymns and are blessed by our choir, testimonies, and special music.
This is how we praise the Lord and worship together in spirit and in truth.
Newborns – Age 3: A nursery is provided for all services. Loving and complete care is provided by experienced ladies who feel called to this ministry.
Our staff will be glad to assist you with any special needs or questions you may have regarding your children.
"For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified."
— 1 Corinthians 2:2
On February 5, 2023, Blythewood Baptist Church voted to call Pastor Derek Renshaw as our new pastor. Shortly after, Pastor Renshaw, his wife Christina, and their four children joined our ministry. While they moved here from Hunt Valley, Maryland, where Derek served for over nine years as an assistant pastor, this was a homecoming for him.
Pastor Renshaw grew up in Greenville and Spartanburg, SC, before attending Fairhaven Baptist College to earn his BA and MA. After nearly a decade of ministry in the Baltimore area, God brought him back to his home state to lead Blythewood Baptist.
His vision is that through the faithful preaching of the Word of God, the saints will be perfected for the work of the ministry. As we invest in reaching our community and the world with the Gospel, we believe Blythewood Baptist Church will remain a shining light in a dark world.
Come join us as we labor together in love for the cause of Christ!
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Bible, “as it is in truth, the Word of God…” (I Thessalonians 2:13). We believe in verbal, plenary inspiration in the original writings, and God’s preservation of His pure words to every generation (II Timothy 3:16, Psalms 12:6-8).
We believe God has kept that promise by preserving His infallible Word in the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament and the Received Text of the New Testament (Textus Receptus), being those texts of the original languages.
"Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it." — Psalm 119:140
We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; II Corinthians 13:14)
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity, became the physical manifestation of the Godhead to mankind. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood and His bodily resurrection.
“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” — Colossians 2:9
“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself...” — 2 Corinthians 5:19
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, and who reproves the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption.
(John 16:8-11; II Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1:13-14)
We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary (I Corinthians 13:8). We believe that speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit.
Ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer the prayer of believers for physical healing.
We are opposed to the charismatic movement and its tongues and other sign manifestations.
We believe that God created the universe in six literal days and that man was created in the image of God but chose to sin. Hence, all persons inherit a depraved nature and are lost sinners in need of salvation.
